Meet Art Bruhn, Candidate – Mayor

I am running as a Republican for Mayor of Morris Plains. Here are some of my accomplishments and qualifications that will help me be a great Mayor!
I am a 25 year resident of Morris Plains.
I received my BS in Accounting from Rutgers University.
I have been on the Council for five years, currently in my second year of my second term as a member of the Borough Council.
My responsibilities on the Council have included:
- Council President 2020;
- Chairman, Finance Committee 2020, 2021;
- Chairman, Public Health, Sanitation & Sewer 2018;
- Chairman, Buildings & Grounds 2022;
- Member, Shared Services Committee 2019, 2020;
- Member, Website Committee;
Do you like the new Borough website? I helped to create it. I have applied for and received BPU Clean Energy Grant for the town’s first Electric Vehicle Charging Station
I continue to enjoy bi-partisan relationships with fellow council members.
No, I am not finished!
I am an Active member of Morris Plains Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years having served as Past President of MPFA, Treasurer, Past Lieutenant, Past Engineer and Asst Engineer
Being a proud father of a sports minded son, I have participated in the Morris Plains Basketball Association.
I am a past coach for Morris Plains Little League, Morris Plains Recreation Soccer, Morris United Travel Soccer.
I am married to Cristie VanOrden Bruhn. We have a son, Jack.
I am seeking the office of Mayor because I want to make sure our taxes are maintained at an acceptable level to permit seniors to remain in their home and to attract new residents to this great Borough. I have chosen to live and remain in Morris Plains. I was on the governing body during the pandemic so I have seen first-hand the effects of that time on our citizens and our Borough. I want to enhance Speedwell Avenue so cars stop to visit our businesses, not just drive through on their way to other towns. I support our law enforcement. Safety and the well-being of all our citizens are vital to our growth. I can join with my fellow Republicans to right the harm caused by the pandemic and the downward economic turn. Republicans made this Borough great and we can continue to make it great!
