I would like to thank all of you for your vote and support.
I am looking forward to representing you on Council this year and beyond. We had a hard fought campaign, and I truly want to thank those who dedicated so much of their time and energy to help me through the Mayoral campaign process.
In the tradition of our democracy, we will work together with all our might to keep improving our great Community of Caring. Jason Karr was my opponent, not my enemy, and I wish him well and I pledge my support in whatever advances the cause of a better Morris Plains.
I believe that’s what the race was about in the first place!!

Wishing you all the best of luck today. 🇺🇸

Good luck!

As the election season winds down let’s hear from Art Bruhn as he shares why he is the right choice for Mayor.

🇺🇸 I have chosen to run as a republican for Mayor because I believe in Morris Plains and all it has given to me. We live in a special community, the Community of Caring, as it is known, and it deserves to have the best leadership possible.

🇺🇸 I have made Morris Plains my home for the past 25 years and absolutely love living here. This is where my family lives; where my son attended school, and enjoyed the rich Recreation sports programs. It is where I fish at Community Park and play soccer at Simon’s park with my son.
🇺🇸 It is here that I have chosen to serve with the Volunteer Fire Department for the last 25 years and on the Borough Council for the last 5 years. Morris Plains and all it is - is the reason I decided to run for Mayor.

Here are a few reasons why I will make a good mayor for Morris Plains…

🇺🇸 I believe that my background in accounting and business will help me to work easily with the Finance Committee to ensure a fair and balanced budget while preserving the excellent borough services that our residents expect and deserve.
🇺🇸To maintain a balanced budget, I will examine any expenses that could be eliminated for potential savings for our tax paying residents.
🇺🇸 As your mayor I will continue to support ALL of our first responders. I truly understand and have experienced first hand how vital they are to the safety of our community.
🇺🇸 I believe that open communication and transparency is important in many aspects of our lives and in our relationships. It should be no different with the governing body. As your mayor, I plan on bringing back the live-streaming platform for ALL public meetings. I understand there are many reasons that could prevent you from attending public meetings. Live-streaming would allow for better engagement with all residents - allowing their voices to be heard. This would also provide transparency in all Borough business.
🇺🇸 I pride myself in the fact that I will work with anyone who wants the best for Morris Plains. I have served on several bi-partisan committees in my time on the council. I know how important it is to put aside differences to get the people’s work done.
🇺🇸As a fellow resident of Morris Plains, I realize that we all come from different backgrounds and have different lives. What we have in common is our desire for what is best for our families, our way of life, and for Morris Plains.

I humbly ask for your vote on November 8th.

With Election Day around the corner and early voting already taking place, let’s revisit our Candidate Jen Meehan and why she would be the right choice for Borough Council.

“Quality of life issues within the community start with good governance. It’s not about party, rather about electing candidates who will take action…. So if you have not already voted please be sure to do so on Tuesday. Elections have consequences and every vote matters!” Jen Meehan

🇺🇸 I am proud to be a lifelong resident of Morris Plains. In fact, I was born the day after my parents moved into the home where they still reside today! Although not yet officially called “The Community of Caring,” Morris Plains possessed that same sense of community that continues to attract new residents. The comfort in familiarity, the friendliness and the sense of safety were some of the benefits of my being raised in Morris Plains; they are some of the qualities that influenced my desire to remain here and to raise my family here.

🇺🇸 As a student of the first class to attend grades Kindergarten - Fourth at Community Park School, (before attending and graduating from Borough School), I appreciate the quality education that I received in Morris Plains schools and the nurturing manner in which it was delivered.

🇺🇸 My two now adult children, Mark Ferraro and Kendall Ferraro-Camacho also attended Morris Plains schools, graduating in 1999 and 2006 with both participating in school and town sponsored sports. I enjoyed being active in both their academic and sports activities, volunteering for HSA events as well as Little League and Softball activities. While my children were student/athletes at Morristown High School, I continued to volunteer in support of the Football and Lacrosse Programs and oversaw the Booster Club Operations for the Girls Basketball & Volleyball teams from 2008-2010. I am married to Mark Meehan, a retired Detective Lieutenant of the Morristown Police Department and present In-Service Training Coordinator and Range Master at the Morris County Public
Safety (Police) Training Academy. We love spending time with family, especially our grandchildren.

🇺🇸 Professionally, I have enjoyed a 33-year career with AT&T where I held various positions during my tenure with core competency concentration in Service Management, Customer Relations, Sales & Service Operations, Contract Management & Analysis and Financial Reporting. A top rated performer throughout my career, I possess excellent problem solving, analytical and interpersonal skills. These skills that I have developed over my tenure at AT&T will allow me to bring the experience of working effectively with others to the table and get things done! In 2018, I returned to AT&T as an Independent Contractor and still hold that position today.

🇺🇸 I love Morris Plains! I know Morris Plains! I am set to join a team that brings in fresh thinking and valuable ideas that will move our community forward while maintaining the quality of life and core values that make Morris Plains so unique and a desirable place to call home.

🇺🇸 I am Jen Meehan and I ask for your vote.

You’ve got my vote Jen! ♥️🇺🇸

You have our vote. We need you on the council.

🇺🇸 Election Day is Tuesday!! Let’s take one more look at our candidates.

James Myers is a lifelong resident of Morris Plains. He is married to his wife of 23 years, Theresa and has three sons, James, Colin, and Ryan. He is also the son of our town historians, Dan and Maryclare Myers.
This is what Jim has to say about why he is the right choice for Morris Plains Borough Council….

🇺🇸 Growing up next to the Police Station on Academy Road meant that you raced to the firehouse to be the kid that got to ring the 5 o’clock whistle every night.
🇺🇸 I went to Community Park when it was still a grammar school and skated on the pond with some of the best hockey players around like the Bozzas, Amblers and the Molnars. I played baseball, soccer and swam for Tina Gomez Cecala. I also attended Borough School and MHS and have many fond memories of my teams and clubs.
🇺🇸 All the kids in town worked at local shops, or in the trades like Paul Cullen and Bobby Webster or with Recreation like Gerry Sitman. This was so we could have money to get ice cream from Friendly’s, candy from Genes Market, toys from Botwins, or sports equipment from Doherty’s Sporting Goods.
🇺🇸 I had the pleasure of working at some our towns great establishments, like: Ronnies Deli, The Morris Plains Pharmacy, and the Pool. After college I was a substitute teacher in our schools. And later a part time bartender at Collins Pub (AND for the record…Yes, I miss it too)!
Most of you know Jen Keating Meehan was also born and raised in town. In fact, my mother and her father grew up next door to one another.

🇺🇸 You do NOT have to be from Morris Plains to serve Morris Plains… BUT if you ARE to SERVE, You DO need to know where we have come from in order to guide us into the future.

🇺🇸 Most of you chose to settle in Morris Plains because of the way of life it has provided its residents for the past 96 years. What was once a vibrant, diverse downtown that offered something to everyone, young and old is NOW AT RISK!!
🇺🇸 Our downtown is struggling. Those great stores of the past have faded. And while we have some wonderful newcomers, it is NOT ENOUGH!!
🇺🇸 I am committed to work with the counsel to breathe new life into our downtown and provide our neighbors, old and new, the same town pride that I grew up with.
Our community services and programs have been the envy of the State and they have helped to drive our high property values.
Our Police, Firefighters, Road Department, Sanitation, Recreation, Museum, Library, and many more do not need micro-management. They need our support, our understanding, and our attention to meet the needs of our growing community.

🇺🇸 I will work with my fellow candidates to not only maintain, but to strengthen these services so Our Community continues to stand out as an example to surrounding towns.

🇺🇸 I, along with Jen will be THE VOICE for all of Morris Plains regardless of Party, Background or Belief.

🇺🇸 Through Common Sense, Knowledge of Our Past,
Fresh Ideas, and an Open Ear,
WE will represent ALL of our neighbors and guide our town into the next 100 years as the Community of Caring.

My name is Jim Myers, and like you…
